Mercury Conjunct Venus in Scorpio Inbox

October opens on a tender note this year, and I want you to feel it before the month asks anything harder of you., which it absolutely will due to our upcoming Retrograde. The days between October 6th and 10th are a small, potent window, a warmup act before the new moon in Libra later this month stirs up some deeper relational work. Think of this stretch as the universe handing you flowers before it hands you homework. So, let's talk about the flowers first.

Tomorrow Mercury meets Venus in an exact conjunction at 8 degrees Scorpio. We know Mercury is the planet of communication, how we think, speak, and exchange information. Venus is the planet of love, affection, beauty, and connection. When these two planets sit in the same degree of the same sign, the lines between thinking and feeling blur beautifully. Whatever you say today will carry emotional weight, and whatever you feel today will find its way into words.

Scorpio is the sign that governs intimacy, depth, and the parts of ourselves we don't show everyone. It doesn't do small talk because it wants the real conversation, the confession, the "I've been meaning to tell you" moment. With Mercury and Venus conjunct here, this is a day built for emotional honesty. It is a beautiful day to reach out to someone you love, a partner, a parent, an old friend you've been meaning to call, and simply tell them what they mean to you. Don't overthink it. Don't wait for the "right moment." This is the right moment.

One important note: Venus is currently retrograde, and it will remain retrograde in Scorpio through this entire window. Retrograde Venus tends to turn our attention backward, toward old loves, unfinished conversations, relationships we thought were closed chapters. Combined with Mercury's presence here, don't be surprised if this conjunction stirs up a memory or a message from someone from your past. You don't have to act on it, and you don't have to reopen anything you've closed for good reason. But if a name crosses your mind on the 6th, notice it. Scorpio doesn't do coincidences.

What to do with this energy: Send the text. Make the call. Write the card. Tell the people in your life, out loud, in words, that you love them. Under a Scorpio conjunction, "I love you" doesn't have to be simple or light. It can be complicated and still be true. Say it anyway!

It's worth mentioning, too, that Scorpio has a reputation for intensity that sometimes gets mistaken for negativity, but intensity and darkness are not the same thing. Scorpio simply refuses to do anything halfway. When Mercury and Venus meet here, the love that gets expressed isn't polite or performative; it's the kind that admits to needing someone, that says "you matter to me" without hedging it with a joke afterward. If you've been holding back from a relationship because full honesty felt too vulnerable, this is the day the sky is quietly on your side. Let yourself be a little more exposed than usual, because it tends to be received better than we expect.

The very next day, Wednesday, October 7th, the sky shifts from deep and intimate to expansive electric. This is in part because Mars in Leo forms a sextile to Uranus, which is retrograde in Gemini, with both planets at 5 degrees of their respective signs.

Let's pause on that 5th degree detail, because it matters more than it might seem. In astrology, when two planets share the same numerical degree across different signs, even in a harmonious aspect like a sextile, the connection tends to feel unusually precise and immediate, almost like the universe tuned two different radio stations to the same exact frequency. A sextile is already one of the "easy," opportunity bringing aspects: it opens doors rather than knocking them down. At an exact, matching degree, that door doesn't just open, it swings wide, and the invitation feels unmistakable. You're not going to have to squint to see the opportunity on the 7th. It will more or less announce itself. I love that for us.

Mars is our drive, our courage, our willingness to act and take up space. In fiery, warm-hearted Leo, Mars wants to be seen, wants to play, wants to be generous and a little dramatic in the best way. Uranus is the planet of surprise, innovation, sudden shifts, and liberation from the expected. Even retrograde, which usually means its energy is turned inward, reworking old patterns rather than launching brand new ones, Uranus in a flowing aspect like this can still deliver a genuine jolt of good news. Retrograde Uranus surprises tend to feel less like "out of nowhere" and more like "oh, that thread I let go of is coming back around."

Put Mars in Leo and Uranus together, in an easy sextile, at a mirrored degree, and you get one of the most delightful combinations the sky offers: spontaneous joy. This is genuinely one of the best days of the month, astrologically speaking. Surprise news is likely, and it's likely good. An invitation you weren't expecting. A compliment that catches you off guard. A "yes" where you braced for a "no."

This is a time to go out if you possibly can, say yes to the dinner invitation, gather your friends, and let the conversation wander wherever it wants to go, into laughter, into nostalgia, into plans for something fun down the road. This is not a day for discipline or grinding through your to do list. Treat yourself kindly, the way you'd treat a good friend who's had a long week. And carrying Venus's presence over from the day before, love is very much the currency of exchange here too, not just romantic love, but the warmth of good company, inside jokes, and people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts. Again, I love this for us.

There's also something worth noting about the sign placements themselves. Leo and Gemini are both what astrologers call "yang" or expressive signs, outward facing, social, quick to speak and quick to act. Neither one is shy about wanting a good time. So, when Mars and Uranus link up across these two signs, the resulting energy doesn't sit quietly waiting to be noticed. It actually shows up at your door with plans already made, so if you've been feeling a little stuck or cooped up lately, this is the day that breaks loose. Don't fight it by trying to stick too rigidly to your routine, let the spontaneity actually be spontaneous and do the damn thing.

Now I want to be honest with you about something, because I think you deserve the full picture rather than just the pretty parts. This sweet, connective window between October 6th and 7th is not happening in a vacuum. It's building toward a New Moon in Libra at 17 degrees, which is a lunation that carries some genuinely mixed messages, and one we'll unpack fully in my next newsletter. But I don't want to leave you unprepared, so here's a preview.

At that New Moon, Saturn will be in direct opposition to both the Sun and the Moon. Saturn is the planet of restriction, responsibility, reality checks, and hard truths. An opposition from Saturn to a new moon, especially a Libra new moon, ruled by the planet of partnership and balance, can bring a heavier, more sober tone into a particular relationship in your life. It might not be dramatic. It might simply feel *weighty*, like a conversation that's been avoided is finally due, or like a relationship needs you to show up with maturity rather than magic.

Around the same time, Mars will be in a clashing, friction filled aspect with Pluto, which tends to intensify aggression, drive, and the urge to push, control, or dig in. Pluto doesn't do anything halfway, because it actually excavates. Combined with Mars, this can bring buried tension to the surface fast and forcefully.

However, there's the good news in the mix because Jupiter, the great masterful healer and expander of the zodiac, will be offering support during this same period, helping smooth the way to some resemblance or contentment, if you're willing to meet it halfway. Jupiter's gift is perspective, the reminder that most conflicts, seen from a wider lens, are more workable than they feel in the heat of the moment. Please, when this New Moon arrives, and try to stay optimistic. The heaviness is real, but so is the help that's been placed alongside it.

If there is any resentment that has been quietly simmering beneath the surface of a relationship, something unsaid, some old hurt you've been sitting on, this New Moon period is when it is most likely to erupt. My advice, and I say this with real care: don't wait for it to boil over on its own timeline. Clear the air before it comes to that. Have the conversation while you still get to choose the tone of it. Oof.

This is especially important because Venus will still be Retrograde during all of this. Retrograde Venus, as we talked about above, has a way of dragging old relationship patterns back into the light, asking us to look at what we've avoided rather than skip past it. Then, on October 10th, Venus Retrograde in Scorpio will form a hard square to Mars, at 7 degrees.

A Venus and Mars square is classically the aspect of romantic and relational friction, desire and frustration tangled together, love and conflict sitting a little too close for comfort. With Venus Retrograde, this friction is less likely to be about something brand new and more likely to be about something old resurfacing for one more round.

So, consider this newsletter your gentle heads up. Enjoy the sweetness of October 6th and 7th fully, really let yourself have it, but don't be shocked if, by the time we reach the New Moon and that October 10th square, the emotional temperature shifts. It's not a bad omen! This is more so an invitation to finish a conversation you may have been putting off, so that the relationships that matter to you can move forward lighter rather than heavier.

There's a reason the sky gave us this order of events, tenderness first, joy second, and the harder work saved for last. Let October 6th soften you. Let October 7th delight you. And when the heavier energy of the New Moon arrives, you'll meet it not from a place of scarcity, but from a place that's already been reminded, twice, in one week, of how good it feels to be loved and to say so out loud.

More on the New Moon in Libra soon. Until then, go call the person you've been thinking about, and say yes to the dinner invitation. Love you, mean it.

 Mantras:

To carry you through both the sweetness and the weight of these coming days, here are three mantras. Say them out loud if you can, Scorpio energy responds to voice.

I speak my love without fear of how deep it goes

I say yes to joy when it surprises me.

I clear what needs clearing, so love has room to stay.
